Plan to Fail

We live in a time where…
Those who fail to plan to fail, fail to fail.

It’s okay to plan to fail.

In fact it’s vital that you do.

The world is complex. A chaotic mix of predictable patterns and unforeseen events.

We’ve noticed through our facilitation work that most leaders and teams far prefer the predictable. Instinctively spending too long in the relative comfort of meetings, reports and presentations. Slowly venturing out into the unknown, where more robust strategies are developed through experimentation and adaption.

This hesitancy is an observation, not a criticism. After all, we’re all human. Given a choice of certainty or uncertainty, which would you choose?

Until perhaps we explore the same question from a shifted perspective.

Certainty means without option. No other possibilities.

Is that the life you want to lead? The work you want to do?

Creating greater possibilities requires uncertainty. Taking calculated risks with mitigated failures, in order to deliver greater outcomes.

As the saying goes, those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Words of wisdom that are now showing their age. We live in a time where…

Those who fail to plan to fail, fail to fail.

Because without failure

There cannot be

Success.
