Your Hands are Digital

We’re all digital natives, regardless of when you were born.

Take a look at your hands. Your digits. And realise that you are a digital leader.

For some of us, you’re already thinking I know I am – it’s in my title. Others may be thinking, I sure am – it’s how I instinctively work and lead.

However many may be thinking I’m not that digital or perhaps I’m not a leader. Just as we’re all leaders – guiding and influencing others – we’re also all digital.

Often with a reminder literally at our fingertips. Your very own digits.

It’s all too easy to overlook the origins of words. And as a result to lose confidence in our own innate abilities. Digital becomes the domain of the experts and the digital natives.

We’re all digital natives, regardless of when you were born. However unlocking your digital leadership capabilities requires flipping a switch in your mind.

All too often digital is framed as almost being the opposite of inclusive. That to truly connect we need to always step away from our devices and digitally detox.

However the truth is far more nuanced. When you ask Google a question you’re not talking to a computer – you’re interfacing through technology to include human knowledge that otherwise you risk being oblivious to.

And when you amplify your thoughts through a device – all importantly if the intention is right – it has the powerful leadership ability to make us not less connected… but more connected to our humanity.

Connecting wider.

Including further.

Like now.
